FTG Presents The Vaults (Vol. 4)

Funkytowngrooves' fourth vault installment mines the deep cuts and alternate takes that shaped '70s and early '80s funk, soul, and disco—a era when a single track might exist in three distinct lives across formats and territories. What makes this collection compelling isn't rarity for its own sake, but the evidence of how producers and remixers understood these grooves as living, malleable things: John Luongo's disco reworking of a Jackson 5 staple sits alongside remastered deep cuts and 12-inch extended versions that let rhythms breathe. You'll hear the DNA of electronic soul here, the synth-funk bridges that connected analog warmth to the emerging digital age. These versions tell the story of how records traveled, transformed, and took on new meanings in different hands—a reminder that the groove was never just one thing, always open to reimagining.
