Heir Apparent were a French heavy metal band whose 1986 "Graceful Inheritance" on the tiny Black Dragon Records label has become a genuine collector's item. French heavy metal occupies a unique space—slightly removed from Anglo-Saxon conventions, often with romantic or theatrical bent. Heir Apparent delivered powerful, melodic heavy metal with distinctly European sensibilities. The band wrote memorable hooks and their musicians were capable players. The production gives the music room to breathe. Finding this original pressing has become increasingly difficult, making it essential for serious metal collectors interested in deeper corners of 1980s European heavy metal.
