Sound Poetry Live At Schule Für Dichtung
Symbolic image – for the detailed description and condition, please read the Item Details below.
This 1998 Vienna document captures four radical voices converging at the Schule für Dichtung: Allen Ginsberg in his final years, still commanding the room with prophetic urgency; Austrian playwright Wolfgang Bauer, whose anarchic sensibility found natural kinship with Beat poetics; Ed Sanders, Fugs co-founder and poet-provocateur; and Sainkho Namtchylak, the Tuvan throat-singer whose experimental vocalism dissolved boundaries between language and pure sound. Rather than tidy readings, these are improvisations where words, instruments, and extended vocal techniques collide—Ginsberg's measured cadences meeting Bauer's darkly comic Austrian absurdism, Sanders' rock-inflected delivery rubbing against Sainkho's primal, almost shamanic textures. It's sound poetry in its truest sense: a rejection of performance polish in favor of genuine creative risk, where meaning emerges from friction between personalities and traditions. A rare snapshot of the Beat ethos transplanted to Vienna's avant-garde soil, alive with generational conversation and unresolved tensions.
