Jimmy "Bo" Horne's decade with T.K. Records—the legendary Miami funk and soul imprint—captured him at the intersection of disco's shimmer and deeper funk grooves, and this collection distills that era into twelve essential tracks. From the propulsive "Spank" remix to the elegant slow-burn of "(They Long To Be) Close To You," Horne's warm, conversational vocals glide over arrangements that never lose sight of the dancefloor even when they're aiming for the heart. T.K. was the house that gave us Henry Stone's vision of soul music as something simultaneously intimate and irresistible, and Horne embodied that philosophy through the seventies and into the eighties. Whether you're discovering him for the first time or returning to these grooves, this Stateside reissue reminds you why his name deserves mention alongside the era's more celebrated figures—a craftsman of funk who knew that the best dance records are built on genuine feeling.
