Black Sabbath's 1989 comeback was understated but serious. Headless Cross found the band refocused with singer Tony Martin, bassist Geezer Butler once again anchoring the low end, and a new hunger after years in the wilderness. These songs are slower, heavier, and more deliberate than classic Sabbath—less psychedelic, more monolithic. The title track and songs like "Astro Willie" hit with fatalistic weight. It's doom metal before the term owned the underground. The production is clean and separated, letting every instrument breathe. This proved Sabbath could still matter decades into their career. The original vinyl is collectible; the limited pressing makes it harder to find. Essential for metal completists.
