Give It Some

Hackensack's *Give It Some* is a straightforward blues-rock album that doesn't overthink itself—just solid grooves built on the bones of 1970s hard rock tradition. The band works a familiar palette here: strut and swagger on tracks like "Downtown Traffic" and "The Hustler," introspective slow-burn moments in "Prayer," and a cover of "Gloria" that sits comfortably in their wheelhouse. There's nothing revolutionary about it, but that's almost the point; this is the sound of musicians who know their lineage—Zeppelin, Foghat, the grittier end of classic rock—and have the chops to live inside it honestly. The twelve tracks move with purpose and a loose-limbed confidence, whether they're rolling through a standard blues structure or stretching out into something with a bit more room to breathe. If you're looking for blues-rock that respects its roots without genuflecting to them, this one deserves a spin.
