Grażyna Bacewicz was a Polish composer and violinist who bridged twentieth-century modernism with lyrical sensibility. One of the most significant female composers of the post-war era, her work remained somewhat overshadowed outside Poland until recent years. This recording features pianist Ewa Kupiec performing Bacewicz's piano works, showcasing the composer's distinctive voice: inventive harmonies and structural clarity alongside moments of genuine lyricism. The music balances modernist techniques with emotional directness, never becoming cold or overly cerebral. Kupiec's interpretations bring out the clarity and color in these pieces, revealing why Bacewicz deserves wider recognition among contemporary classical enthusiasts.
