Falco's return to vinyl with *Out Of The Dark* finds the Austrian new-wave icon navigating contemporary electronic production while staying true to the synth-pop sensibilities that defined his 1980s breakthrough. This 2023 release threads together polished pop-rock with modern synth textures, balancing introspection against the kind of propulsive energy that made "Der Kommissar" a generational touchstone. The tracklist pairs the title track and "Egoist" with instrumental and remixed versions, offering different angles on Falco's evolving sound—a restless artist still chasing new configurations rather than resting on legacy. Whether you've followed his entire arc or discovered him through the distant echoes of his MTV moment, there's something here about an elder statesman of European pop refusing to calcify, testing what remains vital in his singular voice against contemporary production values.
