Nico was the German-born chanteuse who helped define the avant-garde through her work with the Velvet Underground and her haunting solo career. By the 1970s, she had become a singular figure in experimental music, uncompromising and fearless. This 2012 reissue captures a live performance from December 1974 in Reims, France, during one of her most creative periods. The atmosphere is sparse and hypnotic, built from minimal arrangements and her distinctive, glacial voice. These are experimental pieces and reimagined covers, layered with droning instrumentation and unconventional structures that feel both intimate and unsettling. What you hear is art made without regard for commercial appeal—stark, beautiful, and unforgettable.
