The Get Down Boogie Sound

BGP Records has long championed the funk and soul records that radio overlooked, and this 2013 compilation captures that spirit with twelve tracks that distill the essence of boogie's golden age. These are songs built for the floor—tight grooves that sit somewhere between the syncopated precision of seventies funk and the looser, more organic warmth of soul records, with disco's glittering DNA threaded throughout. The selections here span lesser-known gems and deeper cuts that showcase how regional funk scenes refined the sound, each track a small reminder that the best dance music was always about feel first, production second. Whether it's the extended mix of "Give It Up" or the understated finesse of "Pastel," this collection proves that great grooves don't need fanfare—they just need to move you. It's the kind of record that rewards both dedicated diggers and anyone simply looking for music that makes movement feel natural.
