Notausgang, released in 1979, captures Georg Danzer at an earlier point in his career when he was still developing his voice as both musician and lyricist. The title track has genuine urgency and drive. Kein Benzin is deceptively simple—a driving rock song about running on empty, literal and metaphorical. The mix of German and Austrian dialect in tracks like Oide, Laß Mi Ned Im Regn Schdeh grounds this firmly in regional identity. The rock arrangements are solid, the energy high, and Danzer's personality already clearly defined. While not quite as polished as his later work, Notausgang has immediacy and hunger that defined late 70s rock.
