Mark De Clive-Lowe's *Tide's Arising* arrives as a genuinely inventive instrumental journey that sits comfortably within the broken beat and contemporary RandB landscape of mid-2000s electronic music. Released on ABB Soul, this collection showcases De Clive-Lowe's gift for crafting sophisticated grooves that blend live instrumentation with digital precision, drawing from jazz traditions while remaining rooted in hip-hop's rhythmic language. Tracks like "Masina's World" and "Slide" demonstrate his ear for textural detail and organic funkiness—think of someone who understands both the swing of jazz keyboards and the cut-and-paste logic of electronic producers. Rather than chasing trends, De Clive-Lowe builds atmospheric soundscapes populated by warm horns, synth work, and rhythms that breathe and shift unexpectedly. This is music designed for deep listening, the kind of instrumental work that rewards attention without demanding it, moving fluidly between contemplative moments and passages where everything locks into a groove worth getting lost in.
