Italo Montemezzi was an Italian opera composer whose work bridges the late romantic and early modern periods. L'Amore dei Tre Re is his most frequently performed opera, a dark and passionate work about forbidden love set in medieval Italy. Placido Domingo, one of the greatest tenors of all time, stars alongside mezzo-soprano Marilyn Horne in this 1997 recording conducted by Nello Santi.
